NDAOD 2022-2023 Competition Team
Are you ready?! The 2022-2023 Competition Team is open to dancers ages 9 (by August 1st) and up! All
interested and qualified dancers must audition for placement on the Competition Team. In order to best serve
our dancers, we have decided to forgo the separate groups within the Competition Team, and instead have
opted for a more cohesive unit. Chosen dancers will be placed on either the Junior or Senior Competition
Team.
Dancers on the Junior Competition Team will be guaranteed one competition piece that they will work on
throughout the year. Senior Competition Team members will be guaranteed two competition pieces both
starting at the beginning of the dance season. Dancers will be selected for pieces based on cohesiveness of
the dancers, genre, and choreographer’s vision.
Auditions
Dancers must be 9 years old by August 1st in order to audition. Auditions will be held on Friday, June 17 at
5:00pm for dancers ages 9-12 and 6:00pm for dancers ages 13+. Please use dancers age by August 1, 2022
to determine when to audition. Auditions are expected to last one hour each. No parents are allowed in the
studio during auditions. Auditions will be recorded for review by instructors. Dancers will be judged on the
following criteria: flexibility, skill, technique, stage presence, and maturity throughout the entire audition. Work
ethic, class attendance, group cohesion, and attitude will also be taken into consideration. The audition
process will consist of skills, a combination, and improv. Audition time (based on age) does not automatically
place dancers into a specific team. Team announcements* will be made Monday, June 20 via email.

who RSVP will be sent the Competition Team Handbook to read through and sign prior to auditions. Please
bring your signed agreement with you to turn in at auditions.
*We take Competition Team member selection very seriously. Any disputes or disagreements on eligibility or placements made by
parents will be seen as disrespectful to our professional opinions and will be dismissed. We will not be releasing any formal feedback
on auditions. Any dancer that would like feedback on their audition is encouraged to speak with Miss Ashley HF directly.
